Ghost Hunters Mid-Season Finale: Grant Wilson Departs from Ghost Hunters & Jason Hawes FAQ’s

Grant Wilson Jason Hawes Spalding Inn

As I said on twitter, I thought last night’s episode had everything. And it was possibly the greatest episode I’ve seen of the program to date. I’m really proud of my friends at TAPS for all of their work on Ghost Hunters. The big reveal that was teased starting last week did not disappoint.
Grant Wilson announced that he’s leaving Ghost Hunters.
From the SyFy Press Release:
Of the departure, Wilson said, “It is with mixed emotion that I am announcing my departure from the cast of Ghost Hunters. While paranormal investigating has always been and will remain a passion for me, after enjoying nearly eight successful seasons on television, I have made the decision to leave the series in order to focus on other aspects of my personal life.

I will deeply miss working with Jason and the rest of the dedicated investigators and crew that have become like family, and I wish them all the best as they continue to follow their passion and realize the vision of TAPS.

I will also miss interacting with our wonderful fans worldwide. You are all at the heart of what we do on Ghost Hunters, and I’m grateful to have gotten to know many of you over the years.

Thank you to Syfy and Pilgrim Studios for giving me the opportunity to do what I love for nearly eight years, and for supporting this difficult decision.”

Jason Hawes also released a statement:
“When Grant and I founded TAPS nearly 20 years ago, we never imagined that we would be able to make such an impact just by doing what we enjoy every day. I will miss working with Grant on a daily basis, and am indebted to the level of dedication and expertise he has brought to our field.

I can’t imagine having a better partner through it all – both on the show and off. Grant and I, along with our spouses and children, are all like one big family. While I fully support his decision to move on from the series, this longtime friendship – as well as our business partnership – will continue off-camera for years to come.”

The hunt isn’t over though. Grant still has more investigations that will air in the next half-season. One of them I got to check-out while the filming took place and I’m sure you’ll enjoy.

Jason has put up a Q & A section on his site so please check it out to get info on Grant’s departure straight from TAPS founder.

As Jason said “It is what it is.” It’s going to be sad not to see Grant on the show every Wednesday but he wants the team to carry on ghost hunting and TAPS to continue to grow. He has more personal goals such as art and music to achieve and now he’ll have the time to do that. He’s still a part of TAPS. We’ll miss him on the show but we’re happier knowing he’s doing awesome.

How amazing were the other things in the episode though?
Jason and Steve having to save Amy and Adam from the creepy, malfunctioning elevator. Amy said this was the 3rd time she’s been trapped in an elevator! I’m taking the stairs with her next time and every time. Adam has been stuck in an elevator once before and the first time he had to climb up and release at latch so the elevator full of 25 people could crawl out. He’s a hero!
The shots of Jay trying to get the elevator doors open were awesome. Looked like an action movie.
