Tara Normal Convention Table at Baltimore Comic-Con 2009

Baltimore Comic-Con was a great time! We had a blast meeting readers and making new friends! I also got to meet Dawn Griffin, creator of Zorphbert & Fred ( a favorite webcomic of our’s!) and once again hang with the talented David Lamason, creator of Unbearable Bears. Hopefully next time we can party more! I’m happy to report that Dr. Frankenkitty has some new patients after the con too (Thank you to everyone who picked up a shirt or pillow!).
If you couldn’t make it to the show or you were there and were out of cash at the time, everything at the show is now available at the Tara Normal Store!
A gallery of pictures from the event are now up at my Facebook page and you can view there HERE!

Thank to everyone who made it out to the show! It was one of our biggest shows yet! A big thank you to my friend Chris Clause who helped us at the table all weekend long. If it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t have gotten any J. Scott Campbell autographs or found any of the Deadpool comics I was missing.

Another huge thank you to John Hodges. John found a case of our merchandise that was left behind on the streets of Baltimore. He picked it up for us, making sure it was safe and right now it’s on the way back to Tara Normal Headquarters. I can’t thank him enough for being a true class-act. Thank you, John! Please visit his website and check out his work. www.badplaceproductions.com

Our next signing is on Halloween at Collectors Corner in Parkville, MD. More details soon!

Tara Normal Activity: Beyond Reality Event: The Stanley Hotel

Getting to create illustrations of the Ghost Hunters team to be used in their events’ charity auctions has been a dream come true for me. I’m lucky to get the chance again as I get to create another piece to help benefit the Beyond Reality charity auction next weekend at the Stanley Hotel. I wasn’t able to be there in person this year, but I really want to visit the Stanley because it’s the hotel that The Shining was based on. And as you may know, The Shining is my favorite film.
For the first time anywhere, below is your first chance to look at my newest Ghost Hunters/TAPS caricature portrait and everybody in it is doing their best Shining imitation. It will be on auction next week- good luck to all the bidders!
Happy Halloween everybody!

UPDATE: My Ghost Hunters Shining poster sold for a great amount for charity to a very lucky bidder at the Stanley. Congratulations! Thank you again to Holly, Britt, Amy, Kris, Jason & Grant and Beyond Reality Events for letting me draw them! This poster’s charity amount doubled my first poster for the group. I can’t wait to create the next one!

TaraNormal Activity: Ghost Hunters/TAPS Mt. Washington Charity Poster

Here’s a preview of my new art poster for the Beyond Reality Events charity auction this weekend at the Mt. Washington Hotel. Hope to see you there!

Ghost Hunters Art for Beyond Reality Events: Mt. Washington

TaraNormal Activity: Beyond Reality Events Mt. Washington Findings

UPDATED WITH MORE AWESOME PHOTOS!
What an amazing couple of days we had at Mt. Washington in NH this year! I wouldn’t be lying if I said I had one of the best times ever. I got to hang out with all of my friends from TAPS and Beyond Reality and take part in a crazy investigation in the Princess Room at the hotel too! I’m also very pleased to say that the artwork I created for the event helped raise $1500 for the charity auction. The auction was to held to raise money to benefit the Charles R. Foley Jr. Gilmartin Foundation which helps families when their child has cancer. Charles was an amazing child who was taken from this earth too soon. It’s truly a great cause so please take the time to check it out and donate.

Some exciting news to come out of the event is that Grant Wilson and I brainstormed some ideas for a new series of limited-edition art prints I will making for the TaraNormal Shop. These things are going to be amazing and I can’t wait to start creating them.

It was rough to have to leave this year and get back to reality after such an awesome trip. Thank you again to Holly Griffith for letting Shelley and I be a part of it. She did steal Shelley away from me so they could go look for wild animals leaving me to draw all day with no breaks or fresh air intervals in between huffing Sharpies but hey, I’m not gonna complain.

A big thank you to Christina who got me an anniversary cake in honor of Tara Normal turning 1 year old! She also got me balloons (which are not allowed in Mt. Washington!) and a very nice card. Christina is an awesome supporter of the site and the stories I tell. It was very special to me.

Congratulations to Michelle who won the TAPS Mt. Washington art print I made for the auction. She promised she was going to win this year and she did not disappoint. She already framed it and it looks amazing.

Talented musician Raven Quinn and I signed limited edition art prints created of my drawings of her graphic novel character at the event as well! These prints are now on sale at Raven’s store. I’m really proud of this piece. Make sure to get one before they’re sold out!

We are still reviewing our evidence caught on the investigation so I will save that for another entry. Right now enjoy some pictures from our time at Mt. Washington!

TaraNormal Activity: Beyond Reality Events Eastern State Pen. Findings

I was very, very busy in April! Before we hit Mt. Washington, we made our way to Eastern State Penitentiary, one of the creepiest places I’ve ever been to. If you’re into creepy places, make sure you check this one out. Several places in this former prison make you feel like you’re not welcome. This is a heavy feeling in the air around death row and in a group I was part of a voice was heard coming from absolute darkness. It was right into my friend Eddie’s ear and the group was lucky enough to catch it on their recorders.
With a group that Amy Bruni was leading, shadow people and mists were seen. Amy and her fellow investigators also witnessed a jellyfish-like anomaly floating above the lower floor area. Amy said she had never seen anything like it before in her ghost hunting career.
With Chip Coffey, I was able to be a part of a communication with was believed to be the spirit of a former prison guard. Chip set up his mag light for communication with the entity. It is believed by unscrewing the flashlight to the point where it turns off, one can ask the entity to move the light and turn it on to communicate. This is what we witnessed. My K-II meter also went off in unison with the flashlight and the temperature was measured as dropping when the questioning began.
It was my first time meeting Chip and we were like old friends right from the start. He knew all of the awful jokes I knew ( in fact, he knew WAY more!). He’s an amazing person and friend. Please take the time to visit his site. His show, Paranormal Kids, has just been renewed for its 3rd season!
Kris Williams lead a group that saw a shadow person running straight into wall! I didn’t get to see such a sight but some of the ceiling did almost fall on me. Plus, I’m pretty sure I accidentally ate some paint chips at my time in Eastern State. Kris will try to say it wasn’t an accident.

I had two exclusive large format art prints of the Tara Normal comics that appeared in the TAPS Paramagazine. These prints and my other art in the auction helped raise over $400 for the auction which benefited Eastern State. Thank you to the lucky bidders.

I’d like to just thank Beyond Reality Events and Holly Griffith for being kind enough to let me be a part of such an awesome time! Make sure to check out an event near you!

Tara Normal Activity: Beyond Reality Event at the Shining Hotel! My poster in the auction again!

Because of the popularity of this piece, I wanted to give attendees at the upcoming Beyond Reality Event another chance to own a super, super limited-edition print of my TAPS Shining artwork. Printed just for the event, it will be signed by all of the stars of Ghost Hunters you see in the portrait: Jason, Grant, Kris, Amy and Britt. If you’re attending the Stanley event this weekend you’ll have a chance to win the rare item and help out a charity at the same time!

TaraNormal Activity: Caricature Event July 4 at Spalding Inn!

On July 4th I’ll be drawing caricatures pretty much all day at the Spalding Inn in Whitefield, NH! The Spalding Inn is owned by Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson, stars of SyFy’s Ghost Hunters. I had the chance to stay there in April and I really enjoyed my stay. It was featured in an episode of Ghost Hunters and is reported to be haunted. In addition to caricatures I’ll have some cool Tara Normal stuff on hand so stop by and say hello and get a drawing! The annual July 4th party at the Spalding is the stuff of legend.
I recently created a portrait of Jason and Grant which will be hung in the Inn’s 2 Kings Pub. For July 4th, t-shirts I designed based on the art will be on sale so make sure to get one before they’re gone! I can’t wait to snag one for myself. Here’s my 2 Kings Pub artwork:

A special thanks to Jason for inviting me to the Spalding to do caricatures. It will be a blast drawing everyone! Hope to see you there!

TaraNormal Activity: NYCC 2010 Report!

First off, thank you to everyone who stopped by to say hello at my booth at the New York Comic Con. It was one of the best times I’ve every had at a comic book convention. The kind words given to me about my art reminded why I create. A huge thank you to my friend Brian Stephenson. I greatly appreciate everything you’ve done for me.
Another big thank you to all of my friends who helped me run my booth: Kristy, Rob, Fern and Brian. I couldn’t have done it without you awesome folks!
Here’s some pics of the event in case you couldn’t be there! If you have an event you’d like me at to do caricatures please contact me at taranormalactivity@gmail.com!
