Preview: Tara Normal Graphic Novel Logo Design

Tara Normal Graphic Novel Logo Design

Here’s a teaser image of a new revamping of the Tara Normal logo that’ll go on the cover for my graphic novel proposal. I wanted to really get a slimy, Ghostbustery effect on the logo for the book. My idea is that this is the like the movie version of the logo from the webcomic. It actually reminds me of the pink slime from Ghostbusters II that could make the toaster dance and that makes me smile.

Tara Normal Graphic Novel Art: Page 1 Pencil Art

Preview of Page 1 Pencil Art from Tara Normal Graphic Novel

Here’s a preview of a the pencil art for a panel from page 1 of Tara Normal and the Case of the Boyfriend Robbers From Outer Space.
This is a new character to the Tara Normal canon and I should have some more info on him soon for ya. You can see a creepy cemetery in the background. I’m making this story spooky from the start!

Thank you to everyone who got my appearance on 30 Odd Minutes last night! The show should be up for download on YouTube and iTunes later tonight in case you missed it or you want to watch it again and again. Thank you so much to everybody at 30 Odd Minutes for having me on the show. It was awesome. I’ll never forget it. Especially the live reenactment of my Tara Normal comics. So great!
Here’s another preview of art from the Tara Normal graphic novel I’m working on, Tara Normal & the Case of the Boyfriend Robbers from Outer Space. Here’s how Tara will look in the new book wearing the outfit I previewed earlier from my sketchbook. There were a lot of leaves to draw for these scenes.

I’ve started doing a weekly blog on Tuesdays at the amazing site ParanormalPopCulture.com too! Every week I’ll have new art and info on the making of process behind the book’s creation. I’m going to go in-depth on the pop culture stuff that influences me when I create Tara Normal. This week’s post has my final-final version of the cover I’m submitting for the graphic novel. Please check it out! Thank you to Aaron Sagers- he is Iron Man.

Tara Normal Graphic Novel Art: Page 3 Inked Panel

I am going crazy coloring the first couple pages of the Tara Normal graphic novel and I hope to share some of what I was working on last night tomorrow. Right now, let me share a panel from page 3 of the graphic novel. I’m really happy with how Tara’s expression turned out here.

Tara Normal Finished Graphic Novel Art

Happy Wednesday! I’ll have a new Tara Normal webcomic episode up next week because my sample pages for my graphic novel submission are now completed!
The submission process isn’t over of course. There is a lot of waiting and praying and hoping left to do, but this means I can show some more finished art with you here at the ol’ blog!
Here’s is the panel I preview before and this will let you see how the final looks compared to the inked version.
I saw Scott Pilgrim VS the World last Friday at the movies, so the pixels effect in the background was inspired by the awesome time I had. New comic next week and more art this week. Keep checking the blog, I’ll have something special up tomorrow!

See How I Draw Tara Normal & Then Win the Art!

If you’ve wondered ‘What does Howie drawing look like if recorded by a camera?’ now is the chance to find the answer you’ve looking for. Shelley helped me put together a short video blog (vlog if you want to get all crazy short with the word) for my superhero literary agent, Bree Ogden at Martin Literary Management. The coolest thing is this: After watching the video, leave a comment on Bree’s blog about what your favorite paranormal movie, book or TV show is and you’ll be entered in the contest to win the art I made in the video! It’s so easy even Paris Hilton could do it.
