Bring email confirmation to the ghost hunt.     About Pennhurst: Set in rural Pennsylvania, the “state school and hospital” was a place where those with mental disorders were sent to be forgotten. Pennhurst was also a place where children were sent when local parents couldn’t afford or didn’t desire to care for them. The institution was sadly under funded and over-crowded, leading to terrible conditions for those who lived there. In the 1960’s, an investigative reporter blew the atrocities wide open with the award-winning series, “Suffer the Little Children.” The facility is currently being restored and limited buildings are open, but last year’s investigation revealed activity including a conversation via maglight with a woman who had killed her baby and was institutionalized at Pennhurst until her death.
